Finnish Food Craft Championship 2021
The Food Craft Championship is an open competition for food craftsmen that leads to product development and knowledge exchange. The competition has been held since 2016 in Finland. This year the competition is arranged on Åland islands from 7-9 October 2021 with competitors from Finland, all areas of the Nordic region and the Baltic countries.
Do you manufacture food products from local produce, and without synthetic flavours, preservatives or colouring?
Would you like to get feedback on your product’s taste and other characteristics?
BY ENROLLING YOUR PRODUCT TO COMPETITION YOU WILL:
- Get feedback about the taste, features and quality of your product.
- Increase the market coverage of your product and your company.
- Establish new networks among actors working in the food sector.
- Gain the opportunity to capitalize the experience in your marketing activities.
Discover the potential of your product by entering the competition. The competition is open to products in eight categories with different classes. In innovative food crafts, products from all different categories can compete, as long as the criteria for the class are met.

The purpose of the national competitions in food crafts is to preserve and develop local food cultures, make the food craft known and stimulate its development. The Association Mathantverkarna i Finland r.f. – Finnish Artisan Food Association – has drawn up the rules of the competition. A contest motivates the food craftsmen to develop their company and their products as they receive feedback from a jury consisting of experts and consumers. In connection with the contest, free seminars are arranged for visitors. An overarching theme for the seminars is sustainability.
We welcome you to visit Åland during the competition days. Since we still need to adapt to the pandemic, the competition is planned so that it can be carried out in a safe way. This means that the competition is held on site and starts with the submission of competition products and an industry meeting on Thursday 7 October. The next day, an overall assessment of all products is held. The assessment is carried out in parallel with the seminar program, which this year has the theme of sustainability. The seminar is aimed at food craftsmen and rural entrepreneurs in the food sector as well as other interested parties. Selected parts of the seminar program will be offered digitally. The day ends with a gala dinner.
The award ceremony occurs on Saturday 9 October and the winning products will be exposed to the public. Immediately after the award ceremony, assessment seminars are held. Both the award ceremony and the assessment seminars can be seen on site or followed via live broadcast.
As the program is ready, we will publish this on the page. Registration for other programs will be open from 16 August to 24 September.
Warmly welcome to compete!
